QUETELET INDEX ASSOCIATED WITH YEARS OF WORK IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT DRIVERS IN QUILLACOLLO COCHABAMBA

Introduction: There are work activities that are more exposed to develop chronic nontrasmissible diseases, the objective is to determine the prevalence of overweight and obesity related to years of work in public transport drivers in Quillacollo. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional, prospective, descriptive study; the sample is 360 evaluated drivers. Results: showed in relation to the nutritional status the overweight is 35.6%; Type I obesity 35.8%, Obesity type II 6.4%, Obesity type III 0.3% and normal 21.9%. Relating the working years and the nutritional status it can be observed that the drivers who work from 1 to 7 years; 43.7% normal, 38.3% overweight and 18% obesity grade I. Drivers who work from 8 to 14 years; 12.4% normal, 40.5% overweight, 44.6% obesity type I, 2.5% obesity type II. The group of more than 15 years of work; 5.7% normal, 26.4% overweight, 48.1% obesity type I, 18.9% obesity type II and 0.9% obesity type III. Discussion: The 62.7% work in this area for more than eight years and analyzing the relationship between working years and nutritional status it was found (P = 0.01), more years of work as a public transport driver , greater problems of nutrition by excess.
