Introduction: Diabetes, a chronic metabolic disease with high glucose levels, affects several critical organs, including the heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys, and nerves. Globally, type 2 diabetes is the most common, impacting 422 million people, with 41 million in Latin America and the Caribbean. This research focuses on the factors influencing treatment non-adherence in patients over 40 years old with diabetes in Tiquipaya in 2023. Methodology: The study, utilizing a cross-sectional research design and a sample of 197 participants selected for convenience, employs a structured survey as the data collection instrument. Factors such as gender, educational level, and others are examined. Results: In Tiquipaya, 34.5% of patients rarely forget to take their diabetes medication, while 28.4% never forget. The main factors are busy schedules (31.5%) and forgetfulness (31.5%). 64.5% receive family support. 39.6% modify their dosage without consulting, and 63.5% communicate difficulties to their doctor. Discussion: The analysis in Tiquipaya reveals that 34.5% of patients rarely forget to take their medication, while 28.4% never forget. The main factors are busy schedules and forgetfulness (31.5% each). 64.5% receive family support. 39.6% modify their dosage without consulting, and 63.5% communicate difficulties to their doctor.
